The arrival of the Bogotá Metro represents one of the city's most significant urban transformations for the coming decades. Beyond its impact on mobility, this project creates an opportunity to reflect on how the spaces surrounding this new infrastructure will be shaped, experienced, and inhabited.

With this purpose, Metro20 was officially launched—an initiative led by Bogotá Cómo Vamos to foster public dialogue around the neighborhoods and public spaces being transformed by the Metro. As partners of Bogotá Cómo Vamos, alongside El Tiempo, the Pontifical Xavierian University, and the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce, Fundación Corona joined this first gathering, which focused on a key aspect of urban quality of life: lighting the public spaces beneath the viaduct.
A conversation to anticipate challenges and build solutions
The event brought together diverse perspectives to explore how these spaces can become safer, more accessible, and more welcoming for residents. The discussion raised fundamental questions about the future of public space and the role of civic participation in shaping a more livable city.
At Fundación Corona, we believe in co-creating solutions with the broader system, sparking meaningful conversations, and bringing together diverse stakeholders to anticipate challenges and develop collective solutions. We also believe in creating meaningful opportunities for civic engagement that strengthen trust and encourage active citizen participation.
A process that continues
This launch marks the beginning of a series of conversations that will take place across different areas of Bogotá, bringing together multiple voices to explore the opportunities and challenges that come with the arrival of the Metro.
We invite everyone to follow this initiative and join the conversations that are helping shape the future of the city. Because the Bogotá Metro will not only transform the way people move—it will also reshape how residents interact with public spaces and participate in building the city they want to live in.
