More than 30,000 citizens in 38 cities and municipalities across the country participated in the third phase of the #MyVoiceMyCity survey conducted by the Red de Ciudades Cómo Vamos (How Are We Doing Cities Network) and Fundación Corona (Corona Foundation). The survey gathered citizens' perceptions of quality of life at three key moments during the first year of the pandemic—July and November 2020, and February 2021. The results presented today offer a snapshot of Colombians' perceptions as we faced an atypical year with significant social and economic consequences.

The results of the three phases of #MyVoiceMyCity show the evolution of quality of life in cities and, in turn, identify the challenges that cities and municipalities face in achieving a sustainable recovery. The three phases reveal significant lessons learned at both the national and local levels, providing valuable input for the decisions that leaders must make at this time. The most significant results are seen in citizens' optimism; the economic situation and self-perception of poverty; health; education; citizen security; public management; and citizen trust.

“These types of exercises are fundamental, especially in extreme situations like the one we are experiencing due to the pandemic. The information we are able to collect thanks to the participation of tens of thousands of Colombians becomes a source of data for decision-making in the territories, for the design of public policies that respond to what citizens really need and, ultimately, for improving the quality of life in cities at this time of profound social change,” says Luis Hernán Sáenz, national coordinator of the Red de Ciudades Cómo Vamos (How Are We Doing Cities Network).
