Between Dreams and Opportunity: Postsecondary Education in Colombia

Through the Alliance for Labor Inclusion—an initiative co-founded by Fundación Corona and Fundación ANDI, with the participation of Fundación Promigas and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)—we present Between Dreams and Opportunity: Postsecondary Education in Colombia: Urgent Decisions in a Changing Labor Market. Supported by Fundación Corona, this publication seeks to contribute evidence and informed reflection to one of the country's most important conversations about the future of education and work.

As the world of work evolves rapidly and new models of learning continue to emerge, the paper explores how postsecondary education can become a more flexible, relevant, and inclusive platform—one that better responds to the needs of both individuals and the productive sector.

What will you find in this publication?

  • An analysis of the gaps in access to, retention in, and completion of postsecondary education.

  • Evidence on the challenges of better aligning education and employment.

  • Reflections on the role of microcredentials and other flexible learning pathways.

  • Findings on the financing and quality challenges facing the postsecondary education system.

  • Recommendations for strengthening more diverse, stackable, and relevant education and career pathways.
