2011–2013 Quality of Life Report – RCCV

Measuring urban quality of life is crucial; it allows us to understand the city's progress, challenges, and future prospects, and to see how the government, private organizations, and citizens contribute to everyone's well-being. Bogotá Cómo Vamos's work has combined the analysis of technical indicators with citizen perceptions, enabling us to understand the results of management efforts to improve the city's quality of life and their impact on Bogotá residents.

This report presents an overview of the quality of life in Bogotá in 2013, using relevant and available public and private information that is comparable over time and with other regions. The information is organized into two cross-cutting scenarios: demographic factors and aspects related to poverty; and five sets of indicators: personal assets, urban habitat, culture and civic responsibility, good governance, and economic development and competitiveness.

In this sense, the program recognizes the importance of the city's population structure and conditions of poverty and equity in the overall well-being of its citizens and their multidimensional impact on the city's quality of life. However, these cross-cutting factors alone do not explain the living conditions of Bogota's residents, which is why the indicator frameworks help to provide a comprehensive understanding of changes in quality of life.
